Arrests  11/30/05

     On November 28th the Henry County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call of an alleged kidnapping.  The victim, Michael McMinn, stated that a male subject involved placed him into a vehicle trunk.  According to the victim he was able to kick his way out of the trunk and jump from the moving vehicle at the intersection of Macedonia Rd. and Mansfield Rd.  McMinn was taken to Henry County Medical Center and released after treatment.

     The Sheriff’s office also received a 911 call of a vehicle fire on Van Dyke Grove Rd.   Officers responded to the call and believed the vehicle to be involved in the earlier kidnapping.    A second victim, 18-year-old April Sykes, was in the vehicle at the time of the fire and was able to escape before the car was fully engulfed.  Sykes was transported to Henry County Medical Center and then to Memphis. 

     The Henry County Sheriff’s office, the Paris Police Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the state of Tennessee Bomb and Arson Unit are currently investigating the case and several witness have been interviewed.  Law enforcement officials are asking for help from Henry County citizens who may have seen anything related to the case or any suspicious activity on Van Dyke Grove Rd. area during the early morning hours of Monday Nov. 28. 

     Arrests included Patrick Wilson of Paris who was held without bond on warrants for failure to appear.

      Timothy Boone of Stewart TN was arrested and held without bond on 7 counts of failure to appear.

     Josh Johnson of Paris was charged with simple assault.

    A 4x8 utility trailer, valued at $500, was reported stolen from a business on Fairgrounds Rd.

     An air conditioner unit, valued at $2,000 was stolen from a singlewide trailer in Buchanan.  The trailer was being prepared to be moved.

     Tools valued at $575 were stolen from a garage on Midway Rd.

 

Arrests  11/29/05

     Dustin Cobb of Indian Mound was charged with violation of probation.

     Amanda McDaniel, 20, of Paris was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol Sunday.

     Elizabeth Covington of Henry, Crystal Lacy of Paris and Corey Puckett of Paris were arrested on Jenkins St and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Marvin Long IV, Sandra Thompson Elliott of Cottage Grove were arrested at the Super 8 Motel and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Christopher Neebani of Palestine Rd. was arrested on Friday at Henry County Medical Center and charged with rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery rape and incest.  He is being held without bond.

     Gilbert Brooks Jr. of Paris was charged with disorderly conduct.

     Brian Johnson of Camden was charged with a 3rd driving while impaired.

     David Felock, 28, of Paris was arrested at Eagle Food Store and charged with theft under $500.

     Tekema Swift and James Hornbuckle of Murray were arrested on Howard Rd. in Puryear and charged with public intoxication, violation of the check law and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Ivory Keith was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license and violation of the light law.

     Judith Greer of Camden was stopped on E Wood St. and charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law.

     Meshmecon Huffman of Paris was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia of Brewer St.  

     Charles Shemwell of Camden along with John Shemwell of Knoxville were arrested at Club Erotica and charged with disorderly conduct for fighting and damaging cars in the parking lot of the club.

          Kristie Rodgers was charged with Domestic assault.

       Jeffery Walker of Louisville was stopped on 79N and charged with DUI and child endangerment.

     William Woodard of Paris was arrested at Sonic and charged with facilitation of a class E Felony.

    Sharon Hugueley of Henry was charged with domestic assault on Thanksgiving Day.

     Kendall Hert was charged with simple possession of a controlled substance.

     Howard Tharpe was charged with failure to appear.

      Late Sunday night a Buchanan resident called 911 and stated that he had been kidnapped from the parking lot of El Vaquero Restaurant.  The victim told police that he had kicked his way out of the trunk and jumped from the moving vehicle in Paris and then called 911.  Officials were looking for the vehicle and the kidnappers.

     Children playing around a tree found a gun behind the “Build A Basket”.  The serial numbers did not show up on any stolen list and the gun was according to sheriff’s deputies, severely rusted.

     The Minit Mart in Puryear reported having been passed counterfeit bills.  5, $100 bills were found Friday.  The matter has been turned over to the Puryear Police Department for investigation.

 

 

Arrests  11/24/05

     Danielle Myers of Sharon TN was charged with criminal trespassing.

     A dishwasher and microwave oven valued at $550 were stolen from a rental unit on Bethesda Rd.

    

Arrests  11/23/05

     Antonio Foster of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     William Long of Paris was arrested on Cooper St for simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Markia Patton, 20, of Paris was arrested at Harrison Meadows Apt. for possession of a scheduled 6 drug, criminal trespassing and driving on an expired driver’s license.

     Joseph Curtis of New Concord KY was stopped on Wynn St. and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Thomas Phillips of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     A resident of a home destroyed in last week’s tornado reported the theft of a jewelry box that had been under a mattress in the home.  Neighbors reported a suspicious vehicle in the driveway.  The jewelry box contained wedding rings, social security cards and other important papers.

     Theft from the Freedom Outpost Thrift Store on Hwy 79N was reported to the Henry County Sheriff’s office.  Entry was made through an air conditioner hole in the back wall.

     $700 worth of items were reported stolen from a tool shed on Reynoldsburg Rd.

 

Arrests  11/22/05

     Shaun Coumbe of Paris was arrested on Midway Rd. and charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property and assault.

     Billie Bates of Wynn St. was also arrested on Midway Rd and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property early Monday morning.  The two arrests occurred when the pair was visiting at a residence on Midway Rd.  They had stolen the resident’s wallet and credit cards and gotten into a fight with the resident.

     Joshua Eaves of Camden was arrested on Hwy 79 for DUI and possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a scheduled 4 drug with intent.   The arrest occurred when he came over a hill on the wrong side of the roadway and ran Deputy Bryan Hall off the road and onto the shoulder.  Eaves smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.  A search of the vehicle revealed several types of pills, the drugs and smoking pipes.

          Chasity Uiley of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, criminal impersonation and use of stolen plates.

     Jodi Todd of Dresden was arrested on Ogburn St for simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

     Ronald Samples of Paris was charged with aggravated burglary and misuse of 911.

     Gary Galley of Paris was arrested on Hwy 40E for DUI, violation of the open container law and violation of the implied consent law.

     Jose Salgado and Juan Torres, both of Murray were arrested on Chestnut St. in Puryear for public intoxication.  The arrests occurred when they were found parked in a driveway.  They stated that they were lost.

     Michael Sanders of McKenzie was charged with violation of parole, possession of a scheduled 4 drug and a scheduled 6 drug.

     Ames Perry Patsy Weber were arrested Saturday for possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia on Guthrie Rd

     Walter Flowers IV was arrested in the parking lot of City Limits for public intoxication.  He was slumped over the steering wheel passed out Sunday morning.

     A combative child was removed from a school bus on its way to Henry School Friday.

     

Arrests    11/19/05

     Joseph Taylor, 27 of Paris was arrested for theft of property under $500, 3 counts of violation of the bad check law and unlawful possession of a firearm.  The arrest occurred when he stole a rifle from a Hwy 54W reticence and Paris Police located him at LL’s Bar with the rifle in his possession.  The possession charge was due to a prior felony conviction.

     David Canedy of Paris was arrested for assault.

     John Ragland of Murray was arrested at the Spiders Webb for public intoxication.

     Russell Roach of Mayfield was held without bond for a capias.

     Money and a shotgun were taken from a residence on Cypress Rd.  The victim stated that he was unable to secure the residence due to storm damage.

     Air tools were reported stolen from a business on Hidden Acres Rd.

 

Arrests  11/18/05

     Billy Moody of Old Union Loop was arrested on Mineral Wells and charged with DUI.

     James Nored of Paris was arrested on Blythe St and charged with public intoxication.

     Curtis Page of Springville was arrested at Pockets and charged with DUI.

     Agent Thomas Tharpe of the Drug Task Force arrested Michael Deeter of Paris along with Brian Stutzman on Kent Rd. at 6:30.  Deeter was charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Stutzman was charged with simple possession of a scheduled 2 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

     Benjamin Matthews of Springville was arrested on Hwy 79 at Lakewood School for aggravated assault.

     Vandalism to a vehicle at a Hwy 69 residence was reported to the sheriff’s office.  The lug nuts had been loosened and one removed from the front wheel.

 

Arrests  11/17/05

     Robb Hall of Camden was held without bond for felony evading arrests, resisting arrests and domestic assault.

     Jon Wilson of Paris was arrested and held without bond for failure to appear.

     Shaun Barrow of Murray was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Christmas deer decorations were stolen from a porch on Hardy St.

     Dinkin’s Mobil Homes on E Wood St. reported the theft of items from 2 of their display homes.  Furniture, a dishwasher, range and a bedroom suit totaling close over $5,000 were taken.

     6 guns, valued at $2,750 were reported stolen from a gun cabinet inside a Buchanan residence.  Entry was made through a window that had been  broken out.

 

Arrests  11/15/03

     On Saturday November 12, 2005 the Criminal Instigation Division of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to investigate a shooting incident that happened in the south west corner of Henry County on Hwy 140S near McKenzie.

     The investigation revealed that a confrontation between Joe Hollowell and David Rivera who was visiting at the residence had occurred when Hollowell came to see a vehicle and tires that were for sale.    Rivera, who was intoxicated, threatened to shoot Hollowell.  Rivera pulled a gun during the threat, which he discharged striking Hollowell’s girlfriend, who was 7 months pregnant, in the fore head just below the hairline.  The bullet left an entry and exit wound and the victim was alert and able to speak to investigators.  Hollowell’s girlfriend was taken to the McKenzie Hospital Emergency Room where she was later transferred to Jackson for further treatment.  Rivera went to the McKenzie Emergency Room for injuries he had received from a wreck he was involved in after he left the 140S residence.  Rivera was charged with criminal attempt to commit 1st degree murder and will be held without bond when he is released from the hospital.  Until then Rivera remains under guard at McKenzie Hospital.

     Other arrests include Jeremy Shelton of Missionary Church Rd for driving on a suspended driver’s license, evading arrest and promotion of meth., Tracy Gouge of McKenzie and Misty Townsend of Paris were also arrested for promotion of meth. on Lumber Rd by Henry Police Chief Reeves.  The arrests occurred when the vehicle driven by Shelton ran a stop sign in Henry.

     Agent Thomas Tharpe arrested Terrance Ervin of Paris on Ogburn St for possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent.

     James Lance of Paris was arrested on an attachment out of chancery Court.

     Charles Johnson of Huntingdon was arrested at Club Erotica for public intoxication.  The arrest occurred after Johnson jumped on the stage and would not sit down or leave the club with friends.

     Steven Rivers of Mexico MO was charged with public intoxication on Friday.

     Danny Howard of Washington State was charged with public intoxication.

     Robert Tharpe of Paris was arrested for aggravated assault.

     Cathy Decker was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Raymond Hanna of Paris was arrested at E.W. James for shoplifting.

     Timothy McCauley of Paris was arrested for aggravated assault.    

     Mary Tucker of Springville was arrested on Bull Durum Rd. for possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent.

     Jonathan Peach of Springville was also arrested on Bull Durum Rd.  by Agent Thomas Tharpe for unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent and possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Brandy Robinson of California was arrested on warrants for failure to appear and violation of probation.

     2 vehicles were broken into on Hayes Store Rd.  Tools were taken from a truck and a CD player from a second vehicle.

Arrests  11/12/05

     Two suspicious fires in Paris earlier this week are currently under investigation.  A dumpster fire was reported on Ruff St. and an older house used for storage caught fire at 305 Caldwell St.

     Arrests on Thursday and Friday include Deanna Page of Murray for public intoxication in Puryear.

     Puryear Police Chief Dale Paschall also arrested Corey Adams of Ashland City on Hwy 641N for DUI.  He was observed weaving from lane to lane.  Beer bottles were found in the floorboards and he failed several field sobriety tests.

     John Singleton of Puryear was arrested on 641N for DUI.

     Justin Mowry of Murray was stopped on Hwy 641N for driving on a revoked driver’s license and violation of the registration law.

      Paul Pratt of Buchanan was arrested for domestic assault. 

     Donna Tims of Dover was charged with failure to appear.

     Dennis Goodman of Paris was charged with vandalism over $500.

     Darleen Johnson of McKenzie was arrested on a warrant for violation of the check law and driving on a revoked driver’s license.

 

  Arrests  11/11/05

     Gary Sanders of Henry was charged with contempt of court.

     Sharon Greene of Paris was arrested on a warrant for forgery.

     Joseph Coleman of Paris was arrested on warrants for vandalism and theft of property.

     Gary Johnson of Camden was arrested for 2 counts of violation of the check law.

    

 

Arrests  11/10/05

     Scott Miller of Buchanan was arrested on 3 warrants for failure to appear and held without bond.

     Edwin McCarthy was held without bond for domestic assault.  The arrest was the result of a 911 call and a loaded 22 pistol was removed from the home at the request of the victim.

     Richard Glisson of Paris was arrested on 4 counts of theft of property and 2 counts of vandalism.

     An accident involving 2 vehicles occurred at the intersection of Mineral Wells and Tyson Ave. at around 11:30 Wednesday morning.  The front end of one vehicle was smashed in and an ambulance transported the injured to Henry County Medical Center.

 

Arrests  11/09/05

     Christopher Veazey of Hwy 69N was arrested for failure to appear, failure to appear to don a jail sentence and on 2 mitimuses. 

     Jeffery Malin of Springville was charged with assault.  The arrest was the result of a complaint of someone spinning tires and driving recklessly in the parking lot of Hilltop Lodge on E. Antioch Rd. while children were waiting for the school bus.  Angry at the driver’s actions, Malin punched him in the mouth and threatened to shot at him if he did it again.

     Donald Garner of Murray was arrested on warrants for failure to appear.

     Brian Ross of Paris was charged with filing false reports.

     John Buell of Paris was charged with filing a false report.

     The Tennessean newspaper box was reported stolen from in front of Towers Sports Center.  The box contained an

estimated $30 in change.

     A quarter tank of gas was reported stolen from a van parked on Guthrie Rd.

     $520 worth of items, some building supplies, were reported stolen from a shed on Guthrie Rd.

 

 

Arrests  11/08/05

     Deputies of the Henry County Sheriff’s office called the State Bomb and arson investigator to the Como Post Office Saturday when a small black box was seen by employees of the post office to have been stuck to the underside of one of the outdoor mailboxes at the office.  No one could be certain which way the male suspect when after leaving the box and driving off from the post office.  The small black box, the size of a cell phone was retrieved by local officials and had no wires or antennas on it and was stuck to the mailbox by a magnet.  After investigations the state bomb squad determined that the ‘black box’ contained a slip of paper and was part of an Internet scavenger hunt.  The paper inside had clues that were to be put back so the next player to find the box could continue the game.  The matter was turned over to Postal Investigators.

     Arrests from Friday through Monday include Christopher Sills of Big Rock who was charged with misapplication of contract payments.

     Candy Arnold was arrested on a 3rd driving on a revoked driver’s license.

     Matthew Mead of Springville was charged with violation of probation out of general sessions court.

     Charles Bazzell of Henry was charged with failure to appear.

     Lisa Wilson of Paris was arrested on a warrant and held without bond for violation of probation.

     Crystal Stevens of Buchanan was charted as a fugitive from justice out of KY.

    William Abbott of Huntingdon was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license.

     Teresa Goodman of Cherokee Plains was arrested for DUI, child endangerment and violation of the implied consent law.

     Katy Simpson of Paris was charged with aggravated assault.

    Mary Boekman of Paris was arrested by Agent Thomas Tharpe of the Drug Task Force for simple possession of a scheduled 2   drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Christopher Draper of Paris was arrested 

at the Super 8 Motel for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

     Kenneth Linsman was held without bond for domestic assault.

     Steven Wiles of Cottage Grove was held without bond for domestic assault.

     Brian McCadams of Paris was charged with aggravated assault.

     Fred Sparks of Eva was arrested at Trolingers for public intoxication and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Brett Gream was arrested for public intoxication.

     EMS responded to a gunshot wound on Point Pleasant Rd.  According to the sheriff’s report the hunter shot himself in the hand.  When he was aiming at a deer he fired and the weapon exploded.

     Rods and reels were reported stolen from  boats at Buchanan Resort.  The rods, reel and tackle from the 2 boats were valued at over $9,000.

     Hunting clothing and muzzle loading equipment was reported stolen from a shed on Elkhorn Nobles Rd.

     $3,000 worth of tools were reported stolen from a workshop on Guthrie Rd.

     Lawn and garden equipment was stolen from the back of a pick up truck on India Rd.  

 

Arrests  11/05/05

      Roger Chase Jr. of Paris was held without bond on charges of vandalism.

     Jennifer Palmer of Paris was charged with violation of the check law.

     Jason Dickey of Murray was charged with 2 counts of violation of probation.

     Kenneth Wallace of Paris was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license.

     Wanda Ryg of Elkhorn Rd. was arrested for 3 counts of violation of the check law and one count of violation of the check law out of Benton County.

     Kenneth Cruse of Lexington was arrested on Reynoldsburg Rd. by Agent Thomas Tharpe of the 24th Judicial Drug Task Force and charged with possession of a scheduled 2 drug, meth, with intent and possession of drug paraphernalia.

     The theft of a distributor cap and plug wires from a vehicle in storage at Roger’s Storage on Hwy. 69N was reported.

     The sheriff’s office received a report of identity theft.  2 accounts at business were opened in the victim's name using a false address.

     Vandalism was reported at B&G Equipment.

 

Arrests  11/04/05

     Roger Chase of Paris was charged with assault.

     Michael Napier of Paris was arrested on W. Wood St. and charged with public intoxication.

     Steven Amis, 29, of Paris was charged with a 3rd driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Jennifer Palmer of Paris was charged with violation of the check law. 

     Carlos Cowan of Paris was arrested on Vance St. and charged with simple possession.  Arrested with Cowan was Josh Taylor, 21, who was charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent.

     A handgun was stolen from Macedonia Rd. in Henry.  The 32 cal. Revolver was valued at $200.

 

Arrests  11/03/05

    

     Samantha Taylor of Springville was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

     A break in on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Buchanan was reported to the Sheriff’s office.  The victim stated that while he was in the process of moving out of town the windows of the residence were cranked open and he believes the thief drove up a back trail taking out stereo speakers, TV’s microwave, movies, tapes, furniture and paintings valued at over $2700.

    Wicker furniture was stolen from a porch on Dunlap St.

     A burglary at a residence on 69N was reported to Paris Police.  A bedroom window screen was cut and approx. $2,000 of items were taken including an X Box, X box games and computer software.

 

Arrests  11/02/05

     Thomas Tharpe of the Drug Task Force arrested Adam Davis of Springville for simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

     Mark Flanagan of Paris was arrested on a warrant as a fugitive from justice out of KY.

     Craig Walters, 33 of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Joshua Underwood, 29, of Buchanan was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and violation of registration.

     Adam Duncan of Dexter KY was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     James Hunter of Big Sandy was arrested for violation of probation out of General Sessions Court.

     Charles Bezzell of Henry was arrested for theft of property.

     Blake Swayne of Paris was charged in the parking lot of Grove Apts. with underage drinking.

     Kenneth Dienst of Paris was arrested on Ogburn St. and charged with a 3rd DUI, violation of the open container law, violation of the implied consent law and driving on a revoked driver’s license.    He is also being accused in the theft of a vehicle from a yard on Travis Rd.       The vehicle, stolen on Sunday, was recovered by Paris Police on Monday.  The 1983 Ford Ranger was valued at $1800.

     An accident was reported on Hwy. 54W.  The driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer, slid on the roadway, hit a utility pole and came to rest on top of mailboxes.  No injuries were reported.

   The Co-Op reported an attempted theft of tires from the business.

 

Arrests  11/01/05

     Walter McDeake of Lexington was arrested for a 2nd DUI.

     Jamill Wilson of Paris was arrested for domestic assault.

        William Zimmerman of Dover was arrested Sunday afternoon on Coastguard Rd .for failure to report a crash and leaving the scene of a crash.

     Charles Washum of Paris was arrested on Lois St and held without bond for aggravated assault and violation of an order of protection.

     Michael Nolen of Paris was charged with violation of probation.

     A Stewart County school bus returning from a football game in Decaturville discovered a shattered bus window when they reached Paris.  According to the sheriff’s report the passenger by the window woke up in Paris and discovered the window had a BB sized hole in it.  No glass fell from the window and no one was injured.

    A lap top computer, valued at $2,500 was reported stolen from Springville residence.

     As the residents of a Cottage Grove home watched TV they received a phone call that caller ID said was from the ex-husband.  The cell phone had been left in the vehicle outside the home.  Checking the vehicle they found the cell phone missing and the vehicle keyed with words such as cheater, slut and hoe scratched into the paint.  Theft and vandalism were estimated at $2,725.    

     A truck valued at $4,500 was reported stolen.  Neighbors reported a white male take the truck from a field and leave a Nissan in the victim’s driveway.  The Sheriff’s CID unit investigated the theft and the truck was recovered.

     An 82-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing East Wood St. Sunday night on her way to church.  The driver of the car was from Kenton and was west bound when she observed the pedestrian walk into her lane.  Attempting to miss the woman she swerved into the turn lane but the walker moved to avoid the on coming car.  Unable to stop the vehicle in time the driver told Paris police that she knocked the victim several feet.  No charges have been filed at this time.    The victim was transported to Henry County Medical Center and airlifted to Nashville.
