Arrests  5/31/08

     Anthony Shaefer and Amanda Powers of Clayton Town Rd were charged with 2 counts of simple possession of a scheduled 2 drug,  possession of a scheduled 3 drug,  possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.

Jessie Palanki of Van Dyke Rd. was held without bond and charged with tampering with evidence, promotion of the manufacture of meth and evading arrest,

  A pickup truck was reported stolen from Fanwood Dr.  The owner stated the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were in the glove box.

     4 guitars were reported stolen from a home on Vale Rd.

     $52 in gas and beer were stolen from Scott Mart on Wood St.  The thief was identified as Ricky Jackson who was in a vehicle stolen from Houston County.  Warrants have been issued for his arrest. 

     Vandalism to a Buchanan residence was reported to the sheriff's office.  The screen door had been busted and several items taken including an air conditioning unit.

 

Arrests  5/30/08

  On Wednesday, May 28,  the Henry County Sheriffs office, the Paris Police Department and The Metro Crime Unit led a multi-county arrest effort in locating and apprehending suspected offenders accused of purchasing restricted amounts of  Pseudoephedrine.  The arrests stem from an investigation conducted by the Metro Crime Unit in which investigators tracked and investigated suspected offenders of  buying Pseudoephedrine over a  5 month period.  The offenders made  purchases at local pharmacies in Henry County.  numerous amounts of   Pseudoephedrine in  other counties throughout  the state of Tennessee  .Pseudoephedrine is the active ingredient in in cold and allergy medications but is  also an essential ingredient in the production of Meth.

  Charges were filed against 27  offenders.  15 have already been arrested.  None of those charged were from Henry County. The  accused offenders are charged with promotion of the manufacture of Meth and it is  illegal to purchase pseudoepherine for the purpose of meth manufacturer when it is purchased with reckless disregard  of it's intent .  Common illegal  purposes for the pseudoephedrine  is to trade the pills for finished meth or any kind of drug , or to purchase the pills for  purposes of resale at a  larger  profit.   According to Sheriff  Monte Belew subjects would visit pharmacies and buy pills and then go to pharmacies in other counties and do the same thing.  Belew did thank the pharmacies for cooperating.

     Counties involved in the drug round up effort besides Paris and Henry County were Benton County Sheriff's office, Camden Police Department,  Cheatham County S.O, , Humphries County S.O., Shelby County S.O.,  McKenzie Police Department and the  THP.

Arrests  5/28/08

     Joe Carter of Blytheville Arkansas was charged with BUI, violation of the implied consent law,  reckless endangerment of a vessel and violation of a no wake zone.   The arrest occurred when TWRA Officer Clay Riley observed Carter driving quickly in Cypress Bay.  When Riley stopped the boat he could smell alcohol on Carter who was unsteady on his feet.

  Garron Crafton of Springhill Rd. was charged with criminal trespassing, promotion of the manufacture of meth.  Crafton had been on the run from officers since April 27th.

  Ross Mortenson of Dunlap St. was charged with violation of probation.

  Christopher Dailey of Nashville was charged with simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  Shemona Teague of ale St. was charged with domestic assault.

  Jimmy Dutton of Dresden was charged with theft over $1,000.

  Michael Hill of Springville was charged with DUI and violation of the implied  conent law.

  Shermaine Dunlap of North Market St. was charged with violation of probation. 

Arrests  5/21/08

     Garron Crafton of  Jeffery Lane  was charged with failure to appear and   initiation of the manufacture of meth.    Arrested along with  him was Crystal Cherry who was charged with initiation of the manufacture of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia  and  Byron Burress of Onieda who was  charged with initiation of the manufacture of  meth and tampering with evidence.  Officers had received word that Crafton was at the Jeffery Ln residence and when they arrived they saw the subjects run.  Officers caught Burress flushing something down the toilet.  A search of the house located items used to manufacture meth.  

Arrests  5/20/08

     A residence and a shed on Bellview Lane were  broken  into over the weelend.  An air  compressor, DVD player, radios, coolers and a lawnmower were among the items stolen.

     A break in and b/burglary were reported on Foundry Hill Rd.  No forced entry was found.  Missing was an air compressor  and hand tools taken from the garage.

Arrests  5/17/08

         In a monthly report from the sheriff's office it was reported that 38 drug arrests were made and $480 seized.  Deputies traveled 51,721 miles while performing official duties.  They checked 840 business, schools and residents and found no open doors.  The county wide school resource /Dare officer taught 14 Dare Kindergarten class . 

Arrests  5/16/08

     Stephen Grimstead  of Chickasaw St. was charged with disorderly conduct and introduction of a contraband into a penal institution.  The arrest occurred when officers were called to Grimstead's residence by neighbors for playing his guitar outside.  When officers arrived he was belligerent  and smelled of alcohol.  He grabbed the officer who wrestled  Grimstead to the ground. On the way to the jail he continued acting violently.  During booking a pistol was found on his person although he never threatened anyone with the gun.

     Kevin Mayfield of W. Wood St was  arrest on an outstanding warrant for theft of property.  When officers arrived he hid in he ceiling  of the residence.  He told officers he was on drugs  and panicked when he heard the police.     

     2 Springville women were injured in a 2 vehicle accident on Hwy 79 by the Tackle Box.  The injuries were not life threading.

Arrests  5/15/08

   The Henry County Sheriff's office  reported vandalism to a building at Plumley.  It appeared that an attempted entry had been made at the shipping department.

     On behalf of the Paris Police Department, I want to take this opportunity to invite you to this year’s DARE Graduation.  The students are fifth graders at Paris Elementary School .The Graduation will be held at the Krider Performing Arts Center on May 20th  at 6:00pm. 

     As a bonus, this year, the Metro Crime Unit and Henry County Sheriffs Office, Drug Awareness Trailer will be on hand for everyone to tour.  

                           

Arrests  5/14/08

   Cassie Weatherly of Copper Springs Rd. was charged with simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of scheduled 4 drug.

     Antown Owens of Harrison St. was charged with 2 counts of simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of a scheduled 2 drug.

     Daniel Gunsekare of Depot St. was charged with  simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

     A cabin on Hwy 641 was broken into and a rifle. was stolen along with clothing.   Copper was also ripped out of the furnace, stove and air conditioners.   

Arrests  5/13/08

     Violet Butler of Whitlock Rd. was charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The arrest  occurred after an investigation by the Puryear Police and the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

     A residence in Buchanan was broken into over the weekend.  Entry was made by breaking out a window where over $500 , fishing gear,  motorcycle gear, ski vests and other water floats were found missing.

Arrests  5/9/08

     More information on an arrest made earlier in the week was released by the Henry County Sheriff's office.   According to a press release Alisha  Bucy, 25, of Murray, is charged with the unlawful sexual activity with a child less than 13 years of age in Henry County on May  3rd.

     Other arrests include Charles Moss of Jim Merrill Rd. who was charge with driving on a suspended driver's license.

     Sherry Pierce of  McKenzie was charged  with failure to appear.

     Kent Young of Claytontown Rd. for theft of property.

      

Arrests  5/8/08

     Alisha Bucy of Murray is being held without bond on charges  of rape of a child.

     Danny Wagner of McKenzie was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol, evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  

     Benjamin Berryhill of White Oak Dr. was charged with aggravated stalking.

     Johnathan Arnold of Eva TN was charged with the promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine.  He was placed under a $10,000 bond.

 

     

Arrests  5/7/08

          Around $900 in coins were stole from a jar at a residence on Laird Rd.

Arrests  5/6/08

    Larry Clendine of Guthrie Rd. was charged with public intoxication.

     Kenneth Salmon of Terrapin  Creek Rd. was charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, and possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

     Leeta Hart of  Old Paris Murray Rd was charged with theft over $10,000.

     Derrick Vaughan of Travis Rd.  was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, violation of the responsibility law,  and theft of property over $1,000.

     Robert Winstead of McKenzie was charged with  a 2nd DUI,  violation of the implied consent law and simple  possession of a scheduled 4 drug.     The arrest occurred Winstead turned his vehicle sideways on Hwy 79, blocking both  lanes of north bound traffic.  According to the Paris Police report Winstead was sitting in the driver's seat and the vehicle had 4 blown tires.  He seemed  disoriented.  A diabetic, EMS was called to check his blood levels which were normal.

     $140 of diesel fuel was  stolen from a truck parked at a bushiness on Hwy. 79 over the weekend.

     

Arrests  5/5/08

     It was stated in the Sheriff's Feb. monthly report that the Metro Crime Unit and the Sheriff's office seized  2 vehicles and made 38 drug arrests, seizing $480.  28 arrests and citations were issued for driving violations . 7 motorists were charged with DUI and 7 were charged with driving on a revoked or suspended driver's license. 

Arrests  5/3/08

     Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew reported that during the month of Feb. an  average of 166 prisoners were housed in he Henry County Correctional Facility per day. 

     73 of those prisoners were state prisoners generated $67, 086 in revenue from the state of TN to the Henry County general fund.

     The Inmate Commissary  generate $ 650 in revenue  and Inmate Receivables generated $2,477 to the General Fund for the month.  

Arrests  5/2/08

     A report of theft  from Foundry Hill Rd residences  were filed at the sheriff's office.  2 window  air conditioners , valued at $75  each, were taken from 2 cabins.    Also stolen from Foundry Hill ,  ladders were reported stolen from a construction site.

Arrests  5/1/08

     Amanda Morris of Hwy 641 was charged with driving on a revoked driver's license.

  A report of a break in at New Harmony Baptist Church was received. A $300The only found missing was a jar containing  approx $1,000 in change.

          An 18 speed bike, valued at $300, was reported missing from  N. Poplar St.
