Arrests  12/31/05

          Ralph Baker of W. Wood St. was arrested on a capias and is being held in Montgomery Co.

     Keith Osborn of Evansville In. was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Brian Long of Caledonia St. was arrested on Washington St. at the Paris Food Mart where he was charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent and violation of probation out of circuit court.  Found in his possession at the time of the arrest were scales, $391 in cash, baggies, marijuana and 2 cell phones.

    Arrested at the same time at the Paris Food Mart was Chris Townes of Brewer St. who was charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent.

     Kim Nobles of Brown St. was also arrested at the Paris Food Mart and charged with possession of a scheduled 6 drug with intent.     

     James Tharpe of Camden was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

 

Arrests  12/30/05

     On Wednesday officers of the Paris Police Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested 9 suspects in Paris and Henry County on sale of controlled substance charges.  During the round up $5,500 in cash and 2 cars were  seized.  The round up was the result of a 2-month operation conducted by the Paris Police Department with the help of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.  The arrests included Roxanne Fisher of Springville for possession of a scheduled 2 drug, meth, with intent, by Drug Task Force Agent Thomas Tharpe.

     Other arrests include Alyssa Jackson of Bruceton for assault and failure to appear.

     James Long of Martin who was held without bond for failure to appear.

     Angela Bernardo of Maple St. for domestic assault and resisting arrest.

     3 bags of trash were reported to the Sheriff’s office lying on the side of Three Bridges Rd. in Mansfield.  A name and an address were found in one of the bags.  The owner was contacted to remove the trash or face littering charges.

     A burglary was reported to Paris Police.  The N Market St. resident stated that 3 toolboxes containing assorted hand tools had been stolen from the carport.

 

Arrests  12/29/05

     The Paris Police Department conducted a round up and made several arrests Wednesday including Shermaine Dunlap of Lone Oak Rd who was charged with the sale of a scheduled 2 drug, cocaine.

     Leonard Fitzgerald of Paris was arrested on warrants for 2 counts of the sale of a scheduled 2 drug. Bond was set at $20,000.

     William Wilson Jr. of Mandelay Rd was charged with the sale of a scheduled 6 drug.

     Pamela Patton of Irvine St. was charged with 2 counts of the sale of a scheduled 2 drug, cocaine.

     Andrew Winding of Caledonia St. was charged with the sale of a scheduled 2 drug.

       Other arrests included James Johnson of Blythe St. who was charged with public intoxication at Little Eagle Camp.

     Temple Hilliard of Harrison Ln. was charged with a 2nd driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     David Mittel of Springville was held with out bond for domestic assault.

     According to Henry County Sheriff David Bumpus, Virgil Samuels was arrested and booked into the Henry County Correctional Facility Tuesday.  Samuels placed a phone call just after 7am to Paris Police Officer Jamie Myrick and Tony Hutcherson and indicated that he wanted to turn himself into authorities.  Officers arrived at 409 Cherry St. and took Samuels into custody without incident.  Samuels was held without bond.  The case had been under investigation since November 28th when April Sykes was kidnapped, attacked and abandoned inside f a burning vehicle.

     “The Henry County Sheriff’s office would like to thank all the citizens that telephoned with information during the investigation,” stated Bumpus.  “Most importantly, Mr. Samuels was apprehended without further incident.”

     Agencies involved along with the sheriff’s office included the Paris Police Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, United States Marshall’s office and the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Squad.  This case is still under investigation and more chares and arrests may be forthcoming.

     A break-in was reported in the Buchanan area on W. Oak Dr.  The only 2 items found missing were a Billy Bass wall mount and a singing catfish; both were valued at $12.  According to the Sheriff’s Office there have been several break-ins in the area and arrests are expected soon. 

    A break-in was reported on Cypress Rd.  A window was broken out and the screen had been cut as well as a shed lock was cut.  6 of the 15 items taken were found in 2 locations in the area.

     A resident on Hwy 79N awoke to find the house had been broken into while she slept.  A DVD player, gold and silver jewelry, a TV and $418 in cash were taken.

 

Arrests  12/28/05

      Arrests over the Christmas holiday included Virgil Samuels, 22 years old of Hwy 77.  Warrants had been issued for Samuels arrest in the alleged kidnapping that happened in the parking lot of El Vaquero Restaurant in Paris on November 28th.  Samuels was arrested on Cherry St. in Paris Tuesday morning.  He was charged with criminal attempt to commit 1st degree murder, aggravated assault and especially aggravated kidnapping.

     Cedric Jones of Murray who was charged with violation of parole and held without bond.

     James Allen of Paris was arrested Christmas Day and charged with domestic assault.

     James Perry of Guthrie Rd was charged with public intoxication.  The arrest occurred when he was in the public lobby of the Henry County Correctional Facility.  According to the dispatcher on duty he was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.

     Randy Johnson, 29, of Chickasaw was arrested at N. Market and Bowling Alley and charged with simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on an attachment.

     Christmas Eve Christy Lamb of Cottage Grove was charged in General Sessions Court with violation of probation.

     Bryan Spirko of Elsie Ln. was arrested on Brewer St. for simple possession of a scheduled 2 and scheduled 6 drug and violation of probation.  He was released on a cash bond.

     Lee Samuel of Dover was arrested Friday night for a 2nd DUI, a 3rd  driving on a suspended driver’s license and violation of the implied consent law.  Samuel has not had a driver’s license since 1992 and has prior DUI’s in Missouri and Arkansas.  The arrest occurred after a 911 call to officers reported him driving down the wrong side of the Hwy 79 after leaving Matt’s Pub.  According to deputies reports he was highly intoxicated and did not have any idea where he was.

   Frankie McCaig of Nobles Rd. was arrested for a 2nd DUI, violation of the implied consent law and 2 counts of vandalism.  He was found passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle on Nobles Rd.

     Phillip Bomer of Camden was charged in General Sessions court wit failure to appear.

     Kenneth Jordan was charged in General Sessions Court vandalism.

     John Boorman of N Market St. was held without bond and charged in General Sessions Court with vandalism.

     Dino Robertson of Davidson St. was charged in General Sessions court with vandalism. 

     A burglary was reported to a trailer in Buchanan.   The porch light had been unscrewed.  Taken was a deep fryer, DVD player, VCR and a guitar.

     A burglary was reported on Jackson St. in Paris.  The door had been pried open.  Taken were a microwave, a man's diamond ring, a watch and a DVD player.

     Jewelry was reported stolen from a hotel room at the Econo Lodge.

  A 2-vehicle accident with one injury was reported at Tyson and Wood on Christmas day. 

 

Arrests  12/24/05

     Chelsea Perry of Paris was stopped on 641N for speeding.  The subject was clocked doing 76 in a 45mph zone.

     Spankey’s Restaurant in Puryear reported that a semi-truck circled the building and knocked into the walk-in freezer behind the restaurant.  Damage was estimated at $2,500.

    The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to the scene of an accident on Shiloh Church Rd in Mansfield where injuries were reported.  The accident occurred a few minutes before 4am.

 

Arrests  12/23/05

     Matthew Sealy of Old Paris Murray Rd. was arrested on an attachment out of Circuit Court.

     Melissa Jennings of Springville was held without bond on charges of domestic assault.

     Robin McNeil of Paris was charged as a fugitive from justice out of Kentucky and held without bond.

    Robert Perry of Curtis St. was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

     A break-in was reported at a Buchanan residence.  Entry was made through a front window and $1,850 worth of items were found taken including a computer, play station and games and a digital camera.

     The Grinch tried to steal Christmas from a Cottage Grove residence, taking presents from under the tree.    The Sheriff’s Department reported that All the items were recovered.

 

Arrests   12/22/05

     Rekeal Floyd of Allen Ave. was arrested at Grove Park Apt. and charged with domestic assault and underage consumption.

     Kenneon Kendall of Paris was arrested at Wynn and Wood St. and charged with seat belt violation and possession of a scheduled 6 drug.  Arrested at the same time as Kenndall was Chris Brown of Dyersburg who was also charged with simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug.

     Kenneth Eubanks of Camden was charged on a warrant with assault.

     Richard Gee was charged with failure to appear.

     William Deerman, 40, of Paris was arrested on Market St. for speeding and driving on a suspended driver’s license.  He was clocked going 66 in a 45mph speed zone.

     Garron Crafton  was arrested on a warrant in juvenile court and charged with domestic assault and violation of parole.

    

Arrests  12/21/05

     James Gates of Paris was stopped on Poplar Grove Rd. were he was charged with an 11th DUI, habitual motor vehicle offender, violation of the implied consent law and a 7th driving on a revoked driver’s license.

   Emitt Jones, 21 of Paris and Nitta Taylor of Caldwell St were arrested Monday night at Harrison Meadows.  Jones  was charged with simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Taylor was charged with criminal trespassing.

     Harry Whitfield of Powell St was charged with a 2nd driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     A case of stolen identity was reported to the sheriff’s office.  The victim stated that she had received an overdue bill from a collection agency in Missouri.  The victim’s maiden name and social security number had been used.

     4 tires on 2 separate vehicles were slashed at an Old Paris Murray Rd. residence.

     A gas generator was stolen from the bed of a truck that was parked at A-B Auto.

 

Arrests  12/20/05

     On December 18 officers of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office acted on an anonymous tip of meth being manufactured at 1135 Bunn School Rd. in Henry.  Officers searched the residence and found a fully operational meth lab on the property with various chemicals and 2 tanks of anhydrous ammonia.  A large quantity of finished meth was also found.  The Henry County Sheriff’s office arrested Lucas G. Hollingsworth of Bunn School Rd. and charged him with manufacture of meth, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Charges are being filed against another individual that fled the scene.  Hollingsworth is being held on a $100,000 bond.  The sheriff’s deputies reported that no smell could be detected when they arrived but there was a lot of activity at the residence.  Hollingsworth stated that he had just rented the garage to someone from Waverly and when an unidentified person ran from the officers they followed him into the woods behind the residence where he disappeared.  They searched the woods and found a baggie with white power that tested positive as meth and a wallet with no ID but $2,192 in cash.  Also found was plastic hosing, coffee filters with meth residue and a set of digital scales hidden under a mattress in the residence.

     Other arrests over the weekend included James Bellis who was cited for speeding, doing 64 in a 55mph zone on Hwy 641S and Christopher Powell who was clocked doing 84 in a 45mph zone.

     William Hayes Jr. of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     James Ketchum of Puryear was arrested by Puryear Police Chief Paschall for driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Steven Hilt of Paris was arrested at Southern Fantasies for public intoxication.

     John Greer of Buchanan was charged with Public intoxication near El Vaquero Restaurant.

     David Bulz of Camden was arrested at Wal-Mart for driving without a driver’s license and failure to present proof of financial responsibility.

     Thomas Schirle of Cadiz KY was charged with DUI by Chief Paschall on Hwy 641.

     Louis England of Paris was arrested at Scott Market for DUI.

     Kimberly Dykeman of N. Market was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Amy Henderson of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     A break in at Ivy Storage on Hwy 79 was reported this weekend.  Taken were 8 guns and ammo valued at close to $7,000.

     An employee of the Northeast Henry County Utility District Allen Stevenson was in a 4-wheeler accident.  He was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

     

Arrests  12/17/05

     Gerald Denst of Ogburn St. was arrested for theft of property.

     Dino Robertson was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property.

     Leslie Nash of Camden was charged with 3 counts of forgery.

     Donald Cooter of Reynolds St. was charged with 2 counts of theft of property and simple assault.

     Richard Gee of Scott Lane was arrested in the General Sessions courtroom of the courthouse annex for public intoxication.  According to the deputy’s report Gee had an odor of alcohol on his person.  Upon the request of Judge McCadams he was tested on the intoximeter at the jail.    He was taken into custody, charged with public intoxication and held without bond per the judge’s orders.

     Deputies responded to an attempted suicide late Thursday night.  The caller stated that the victim had slit his wrist.  When officers arrived they found all the doors locked and no one would come to the door or answer the telephone.  Soon the deputies heard a woman in the residence screaming for help.  When they kicked the door in they found the woman lying on the floor with the victim on top of her attempting to grab another knife.  He was transported to the Henry County Medical Center Emergency room.  After he was treated his blood alcohol levels were tested and he was taken to the jail and held without bond.

     A local attorney faces a TBI investigation for courtroom conduct.  According to reports the attorney grabbed another court official in an inappropriate manner causing the official to spin around and hit the attorney.

 

Arrests  12/16/05

     Heather Lawrence of Cherokee Trailer Park was charged with driving on a suspended drivers license.

   Timothy Price of Gallatin TN was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

     Jerry Melton was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and violation of the registration law.

     Approx. $3,000 of damage was reported to rental property on Hwy 641N.

     Minit Mart in Puryear reported a gas drive off.

     A break-in at a residence on Manleyville Rd. was reported to the sheriff’s office.  $400 in change, a chain saw and a weed eater were taken.  Entry was made by prying open a front door.

     An aggravated burglary on Hwy 119 in Buchanan was reported Wednesday.  Entry was made through a carport door.  Found missing were jewelry, money and a fire proof safe which contained more jewelry old silver coins and a 22gage pistol.

 

Arrests  12/15/05

     On Tuesday the Henry County Sheriff’s office arrested Albert Thomas at his Curtis Street residence in Paris.  Officers executed a search warrant after receiving information that marijuana was being stored and sold at the residence.  Officers located approximately one pound of marijuana and seized $500 in cash believed to be drug proceeds.  Thomas was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.  The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Paris Police Department.  Thomas’s bond was set at $5,000.

     Other arrests included Shawn Moss of Tanglewood Lane for domestic assault.

     Marie Burett of N Market St. was reported as an unwanted person.  Officers arrived at Tanglewood where she became unruly and arrested her for public intoxication.

     William Hanes Jr. of Brewer St was charged with theft of property.

     Kendrick Johnson of Pennsylvania St. was arrested on a warrant at the probation office for violation of sentence.

     Steve Davis of W. Blythe St. was charged with violation of probation.

     A burglary was reported at a Guthrie Rd. residence.  Taken was a 27-inch flat screen TV, valued at $650 and a baby stroller.

     Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on 79 N at Hwy 119 early Wednesday morning.  The driver consented to a search of the vehicle and a 2ft. steel pipe was found under the driver’s seat.  The driver stated that the concealed weapon was for his protection.

 

Arrests  12/14/05         

     Michael Taylo of Puryear was held without bond for domestic assault.

     Samantha Taylor of Gleason was held without bond for failure to appear on charges of worthless checks.

     Joshua Johnson of Routon St.  was arrested on Wynn St and held without bond for driving on a suspended driver’s license and possession with intent to sell a scheduled 2 drug.

     Gregory Scott of Henry was charged with domestic assault.

     Steven Davis of Paris was charged with violation of probation.

    2 high school students were cited into juvenile court for reckless driving after they were exceeding the school zone speed limit in Rhea School parking lot while children were loading vehicles to go home.

     A wallet was reported stolen at Wal-Mart from a volunteer while she was working at the Animal Sanctuary event.

     Extra patrols were requested for a Wood St. business after locks were cut from 2 storage units.  Nothing was found missing.

 

Arrests  12/13/05

     Jerry Page of Paris was arrested on 69A where he was charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law.

     Kevin Roberts of Wynn St. was arrested for domestic assault.

     Richard Barnhart of Old Paris Rd. was arrested for a 2nd DUI and violation of the implied consent law on Saturday.

     Jonathan Crosno of Nobles Rd. was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

      Randy Travis of Routon was charged with failure to appear.

     Steve Patton of Wynn St. was charged with public intoxication.

     Michael Capps of Paris was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license and violation of registration.

     Michael Williams of Paris was arrested at Harrison Meadows and charged with criminal trespassing.

     The theft of shotguns from a boat parked in a garage on Sunnyside Dr. was reported the Sheriff’s office.  The guns were valued at $1,300.

     4 box deer stands, valued at $500 each were stolen from a farm on Hwy 54W.

     $3,000 in cash was stolen from a residence on Max Drive.

     A 1983 Datson pickup truck valued at $2,000 was reported stolen from a Mansfield Rd. residence.

     Bargain Place Used Cars on Hwy 79N in Buchanan reported an attempted break-in.  The would be thieves attempted to break out several windows and remove a window air conditioner.

 

Arrests  12/10/05

     Jody Melton of Paris Murray Rd. was charged with vandalism.

     Carrie Harper was charged as a fugitive from justice.

     Kendall Hurt of Wood St. was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Regina Michell of Springville was charged out of General Sessions Court on a warrant for failure to appear.

     Dino Robertson of Paris was arrested for theft of property over $2,000, aggravated burglary, and 2 counts of theft over $1,000.

     Theft of a shotgun and case valued at $550 from the Big Sandy Wildlife Refuge was reported to the Sheriff’s office.  Entry was made to the vehicle through the hatchback.

     Deputies responded to a call at Southern Fantasies.  A woman found her husband at the club where she started attacking some of the dancers and called them insulting names.  No injuries were reported.

 

Arrests  12/08/05

     According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office warrants have been filed in the investigation of kidnapping and assault that occurred on November 28th  in Henry County.  Wanted is Virgil Samuels of 1330 Hwy 77.  Samuels is a 22 year old 6ft 220 lb black male with brown eyes and black hair.  He is charged with Criminal Attempt to commit 1st degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.  Samuel’s is currently not in custody but is wanted and has been entered into the National Criminal Information Center.  Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Samuels is asked to call the Sheriff’s office at 731-642-1672.  The case is still under investigation and according to officials more arrests may be forthcoming.  Agencies involved in the investigation that made the issuance of warrants possible were the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation  Unit, Paris Police Department, Highway Patrol Criminal Investigations Division, Tennessee Bomb and Arson and the TBI.

 

Arrests  12/07/05

      Kevin Trull of Camden was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.  The arrest occurred when Trull was stopped for speeding.

     Antonio White of Paris was charged out of General Sessions Court with violation of probation.

     Pam Steele, 43, of Paris was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Amy Evans of Cottage Grove was charged with forgery.

     Cornelius Dennan was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Daniel Carter of Puryear was arrested and held without bond for theft of property over $1,000 and as a fugitive from justice.

     A Ford transmission valued at $250 was stolen from the front yard of a Guthrie Rd. residence.

 

Arrests  12/06/05

     Arrests over the weekend included Tales Takemiya, 19, Nester Castro, 18, and Daniel Bedoya, 18, all of Mayfield who were arrested on Hwy 641 by Puryear Police and charged with underage consumption of alcohol and possession of alcohol.

     Leon Dean of Paris was arrested for public intoxication.

     Pamela Steele of Paris was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Thomas Teague of Paris was charged as a fugitive from justice out of KY.

     Melissa Brunzel of Como was arrested for DUI and on a warrant out of Carroll County. 

     On Saturday Ryan Dunn, Joshua Riley, Thomas Harris, Jonathan Venable, 19 of Marrion KY were charged by Puryear Police Chief Dale Paschall for underage consumption of alcohol.

     Christopher McMinn of McKenzie was arrested for a 3rd DUI and violation of the implied consent law.

     Paris Police charged Thomas Winters of Paris with public intoxication.

     Fario Fagyndes was arrested by Chief Paschall and charged with possession and consumption of a controlled substance.

     Felicia Franks of Paris was charged with failure to appear.

     Harvey Waldorf and Sheila Gilbert of Big Sandy arrested by Drug Task Force Agent Thomas Tharpe at the Dollar General Store on E. Antioch Rd.  Waldorf was charged with possession of a scheduled 2 drug, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Gilbert was charged with possession of a scheduled 2 drug with intent to sell deliver or manufacture (meth), simple possession of a scheduled 6 drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and accessory after the fact.

     Justin Rider of Buchanan was charged with failure to appear and evading arrest.

     Jerry Barker of Paris was charged as a fugitive from justice out of Indiana.

 

Arrests  12/03/05

      Mark Randall of Big Sandy was charged with failure to appear out of General Sessions’s court.

     Rebecca Ruddell of Mansfield was arrested and charged with a class E felony

     Cedric Jones of Mayfield KY was arrested by Puryear Police Chief Dale Paschall on Hwy 641N for driving without a driver’s license, reckless driving, burglary, theft and possession of stolen property over $1,000.

     An attempted vehicle theft from a Jones Mill Crossland Rd. residence was prevented Thursday when Joseph Clarkson was held at gunpoint by the truck’s owner.  The victim said he would shoot Clarkson if he didn’t get out of the vehicle.  Clarkson did not believe the victim until he produced his gun, which he had brought from his residence when he heard the vehicle being started.  Deputy Kemp of the Sheriff’s office soon arrived and took Clarkson into custody without incident. 

     Theft from a building on Conyersville Rd. in Puryear was reported.  A hole had been cut in the side of the tin building and tools valued at $500 were taken.

 

Arrests  12/02/05

     Jesse Haley of Prairie Branch Rd. was charged with driving on a revoked or suspended driver’s license.

     Joseph Clarkson of Puryear was arrested and charged with theft over $1,000.

     A $20 gas drive off was reported at Tyson Market.  A check of the license number that was turned in by witnesses showed the vehicle was not registered in the computers.

 

Arrests  12/01/05

     Arthur Tharpe of Paris was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license.

     Charles Washum of Paris was arrested for violation of probation.

     John Punkley of Camden was charged with aggravated burglary.

     Sharon Green of Elkhorn Rd. was arrested on a warrant and charged with theft.

     Forced entry was made into a residence on Crutchfield Lon.  Stereo equipment, DJ equipment and $3,850 worth of tools were taken.

     A VCR, playstation and games were found missing from a residence on Mocking Bird Ave. in Henry.
